FAQS

  • Absolutely, and that’s one of our favorite consultations. Come in with everything on your list: brown spots, broken capillaries, skin tags, persistent redness, old acne scars. Bring it all. We’ll go through each concern, explain what is behind it, and put together a prioritized plan. Some things can be handled in the same visit. Others are better addressed in a specific order for the best outcome. You’ll leave with a clear picture of your skin and a real plan, with no pressure to move forward until you feel ready.

  • IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It uses broad-spectrum light energy to target multiple skin concerns at once, making it particularly useful in our practice. We use it regularly for sun damage and brown spots, redness and flushing from rosacea, broken capillaries on the face, and uneven skin tone and texture. The surrounding tissue is not affected, and most patients notice a real improvement in clarity and evenness after as little as one session.

  • Not for everyone, and we are always upfront about that. IPL works by targeting the contrast between pigment and the surrounding skin, so it performs best on lighter to medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick I-III). For patients with deeper skin tones, IPL can increase the risk of unwanted pigmentation changes. In those cases, we recommend alternatives like laser therapy or microneedling with PRF, which can address the same concerns safely and effectively. We assess every patient individually before recommending anything, and we will never suggest a treatment that is not right for your skin.

  • Persistent facial redness is something we treat regularly, and there are real options. In most cases, it’s driven by rosacea, which does not resolve on its own but responds well to the right combination of treatments. IPL is our most effective tool for reducing visible redness and broken capillaries. We also incorporate prescription topicals when appropriate to calm the underlying inflammation, not just mask it. And we take time to talk through your triggers.

  • Sclerotherapy is an injectable treatment for spider veins and small varicose veins, most commonly on the legs. We inject a sclerosing solution directly into the targeted vein, which causes the vessel walls to collapse and close off. Over the following weeks, the body naturally absorbs the treated vein as it gradually fades from view. It’s widely considered the gold standard for leg spider veins and small reticular veins, and it has a long track record of being both safe and effective.

  • They both treat spider veins but work differently, and which one is right for you depends on where the veins are. For leg veins, sclerotherapy is usually the better choice. The solution goes directly into the vessel and collapses it from the inside, which is well-suited to the size and depth of veins you typically find on the legs. Laser therapy works from the outside in, using light energy through the skin surface to target the vein. That approach tends to work better for smaller facial veins, broken capillaries, and cherry angiomas. Occasionally, we use both together for the most complete result. We look at your specific veins at your consultation and tell you what makes the most sense for your situation.

  • Yes, and it’s one of the most common things patients come to us for. The key is knowing what type of marks you are dealing with. Flat red or brown marks are post-inflammatory pigmentation and respond well to IPL, chemical peels, and brightening protocols. Depressed or pitted scars are a structural problem caused by lost collagen and need a different approach entirely. For those, we use subcision to release the fibrous tissue pulling the scar downward, often combined with microneedling and regenerative add-ons like PRF to rebuild skin texture. We assess exactly what you have at your consultation and build the plan around that.

  • It starts with an honest assessment of your skin, not a product recommendation. We look at what you are dealing with, what you are already using, and what is actually driving the concern. Medical-grade products are formulated at concentrations that over-the-counter options cannot match, and when a prescription is appropriate, we incorporate that too. If something in your current routine is already working, we’ll tell you to keep it. The goal is to simplify and get results, not add to your shelf.
